What is Hypnosis?


The definition of hypnosis is a state of relaxation and concentration at one with the state of heightened awareness induced by a suggestion. 

Hypnosis is a very normal state of mind, one which most people go in and out of every day without even realizing it. When you are watching a movie that you are engrossed in, or driving down a long monotonous road, or listening to music that captures a mood or engrosses you or even when you are reading your favorite book, you are in hypnosis.   

There is a specific state that the brain enters into when it is receptive to a suggestion.  It is a normal state of mind, and may feel like you are not in a trance, or in hypnosis.  For most people they simply feel relaxed and there is a change in the brain wave activity, similar to that time just before sleep when the alpha state is entered. Your brain's waking state is what is called a beta brain wave activity.  As you drift off to sleep it changes to alpha and then to delta and then to theta which is a very deep sleep. The alpha state is a very dreamy, pleasant state during which time the mind is very open to suggestions. 

Anybody can experience this hypnotic state; it is not a sign of gullibility or suggestibility on the part of the client.  Hypnosis brings about a state of relaxation and highly, focused concentration that is a natural manifestation of the mind at work.  All hypnosis is Self-hypnosis.

 

The truth about hypnosis is that it can be one of the  most important tools that can change the way you think and experience life.   A good Hypnotherapist knows how to release blocks and fears and create a new inner belief that will initiate changes in the way you think, feel and behave.

We are constantly hypnotizing ourselves when we call ourselves names and put ourselves down by reinforcing fears, limitations and judgments. As you repeat it over and over it becomes a habit so over time you will develop the belief which will then manifest into a reality.

Take for example,  if you think you forget things or have a bad memory and you constantly reinforce it by saying things like:

"The older I get the worse my memory is."

"I can't remember names."

"I  have to write that down because I always forget."

"I never remember anything."

These are suggestions.  And so every time you say these things you are hypnotizing yourself  with these phrases and you now get exactly the result you expect.  But what we really want are the empowering results so during a session the hypnotherapist would respond with:

"Your memory is getting sharper every day."

"It is easy for you to instantly recall someone's name."

"You will easily remember those things that are important."

"Your mind is getting sharper and your memory is better every day."

So just imagining what might happen if you changed the suggestions that you give yourself on a daily basis?  Just getting a picture of what that looks like right now.  What do you want to happen?  What do you want to feel like?  By changing the way you think and combining that with feeling, thinking of what you do want in your life instead of what you don't want, you set in motion the manifestation of endless possibilities.

What would happen if you could change your thoughts about fears or phobias that you may have?  Or perhaps feeling calm and relaxed in a stressful situation.  Or perhaps your self-image and self-confidence.  Or perhaps improving your health.  Your mind is incredibly powerful.  When we were born though, we didn't come with instructions on how how to control it.  By learning how to make your mind work for you empowers you.  You have the control to make your life what you want by controlling your thoughts.  Remember that most of us only use about 5% of your brain, why not utilize and learn how to control the other 95%.  That's the Power within you!!!  Once you know how to make it work for you, Your Radiance will Shine with Abundance that will have an affect on other areas of your life.
